Two steady rounds helped Zach DeFrain win the Jakson Stableford Golf Tournament at Sharp Park Saturday.
DeFrain shot rounds of 14 and 10 for 36 holes scoring 24 points using the modified scoring system which rewards birdies and eagles and takes points away for bogeys or worse.
Players earned two points for birdies, five points for eagles, and eight points for double eagles/hole in one. Three points were taken away for a double bogey or higher, minus one point for a bogey, and zero points for a par.
Andrew Boldt took second place with 19 points, Chris Chaney was third scoring 17, Brandon Kulka scored 16, and Brian Coon – the defending champion in the event – finished with 15 points.
DeFrain eagled No. 9 in his first 18 holes and had five birdies. An eagle on No. 3 helped his second round score.
Boldt shot a 66 in his second 18 to pull into second place.
Chaney had an eagle on No. 3 and three birdies on the back nine in his first round shooting a 68.
Kulka birdied three consecutive holes on the front nine of his second round and finished with a 66.
Logan Wagner won the first flight with 12 points and Nick Henman and Andy Hordecki tied for second with five points apiece.
Robert Varner took first place in the second flight with -11 points and Jameson Vinson was second scoring -13 points.
Forty five golfers teed it up at Sharp Park Golf Course in the 36-hole event Saturday.
